Why does Chavah ask me to donate?

enter image description here
I received an email this week from a listener who suggested we stop asking for donations.

“Dear friends Thank you for the beautiful songs …I think that is not right for a messianic radio station even You are asking 3 time,s a day for money. Please trust the Father of Abraham .Isaac and Jacob and don,t ask for money That,s not in the word He will give what you need Matt.6 Bless you.”

That’s a fair question. After all, we’ve been running Chavah for 10 years and have never asked for donations until this year. Is it wrong to ask? Here’s my answer:

We don’t ask for donations for Chavah. We only ask for donations to Messianic musicians. 100% of the donations go to the musicians; you can see for yourself in our artist distribution posts, which shows the exact dollar figures sent to individual artists.

Since those musicians freely give their music for your enjoyment, I encourage listeners to do the same and give to Messiah’s Music Fund.

Chavah doesn’t make any money; we’re a registered non-profit. And truth be told, Chavah costs me about hundreds of dollars each month to host and stream music; I lose money each month from running Chavah, money out of my own pocket. Thanks OK! I’m glad to do this in service to the King, and have been doing it for over a decade now.

Asking for donations for people in need has a biblical precedence, most prominently in 1 Corinthians 16:1–4; 2 Corinthians 8:1–9:15; Romans 15:14–32. Voluntary giving to Messiah’s musicians fits this Biblical model.

In short, Chavah doesn’t ask for money for ourselves. We ask you donate to Messiah’s Music Fund, which goes 100% to Messiah’s musicians. ♥

Hope that clarifies things, and I hope you’ll donate to the artists who make Chavah possible.

  1. This is a Good Work and there's nothing wrong with helping those called to worship in song. In a time when godly music is in short supply, Messianic music, at least to me, still holds to GOD-glorifying, Word-honoring as it always had before. I'm glad for this website and use it a lot to worship our great GOD in song and prayer. It helps me to stay close to my own Messianic roots.

  2. Shalom from Somerset in England!
I understand that you played at least one track from the CD 'Scripture and Spanish Guitar.' Although you have never been in touch, I am entirely happy for you to do so, as the CD and booklet are available free of charge from www.watersinthewilderness.co.uk . To apply, listeners need only visit the site, and leave their request together with a postal address, on the contact bar.

May I respectfully add, this music was written and produced to honour the Name of Yahuweh. It was never intended as a commercial enterprise to benefit myself, Chavah, or anyone else.

Luke 16:13 affirms that it is not possible to serve Yahuweh and mammon. I therefore urge you all to decide whom you will serve. Is it the Elohim of Abraham, Yitshak and Ya'acob, or is it the idol worshipped by this world?

    Yours sincerely, Michael Field.

    1. Shalom Michael. Judah from Chavah here.

We have not played any songs from your album, as we don't have your album on Chavah. It's nice that you give your music away for free. Not all artists can do that. And, there is no shame is paying a worker his due wages.

For many artists, they make their living by tithes, offerings, and music concerts at churches and congregations. There is no shame in making a living to provide for self and family. No shame in using your gifts in the Lord to bless people while providing for your family.

As for Chavah, we make $0 on it. :-) In fact, we lose money every month on hosting, streaming, and domain costs. That's OK! Glad to serve the Lord. But I just want to make clear, Chavah Messianic Radio isn't raising money for itself. It's raising it for the artists. 100% of the money we raise is sent to the artists. We document how much is sent to each artist every month, so it's all out in the open.

I'm not ashamed of asking for donations for Messiah's musicians. It is a means to bless them tangibly every month. I am proud to help support them. I am grateful for everyone who joins me in that effort.
