Just added to Chavah: Sandra Sheskin Brotman - Shema Israel

Fine Chavah friends,

A special treat for you dear listeners. We've added to the station a classic Messianic Jewish album from one of the first female Messianic Jewish musicians, the late Sandra Sheskin Brotman of loving memory.

Sandra Sheskin Brotman - Shema Israel שמע ישראל

Sandra was one of the first female Messianic Jewish recording artists. Raised in an Orthodox Jewish home to first-generation immigrants to the United States, her gifted voice and illuminated soul brought her performances on the Today Show, The 700 Club, TBN, The Annual Congressional Prayer Breakfast and the National Prayer Breakfast in Honor of Israel. She has ministered the Word of God to members of the US Congress and their families.

During her life, Sandra labored in the pro-life movement, sharing her passion for saving unborn lives through media presentations and speaking engagements across the world.

She also raised funds for wounded and disabled veterans of the Israel Defense Forces, and performed concerts for Israeli charity.

Through all of her work for the Lord, she has been affectionately called the "Sweet Singer of Israel." 💖

Sandra passed away about a month ago, leaving behind a great legacy of her preaching the Gospel and singing her Scripture songs to millions.

This album features original songs, beautiful takes on Jewish classics like Jerusalem of Gold, as well as covers of Messianic music classics like The Sacrifice Lamb and Baruch Hashem.

Sandra introduces her album like this,

The title, Shema Israel (Hear O Israel), is based on Deuteronomy 6:4-9 in the Jewish Bible. This familiar portion, The Shema, was given by God to Moses in Hebrew 3,5000 years ago. As the core of the Jewish faith, it is recited worldwide at most Jewish worship services and reminds us that we should love God with all our heart, soul and strength. Enjoy the contemporary version of The Shema sung in Hebrew along with Hineh Mah Tov.

It is my sincere prayer that something you experience in hearing this recording will persuade you to open you heart and life to God's redeeming love. The Lord has ministered to thousands in the many countries where Hear O Israel is distributed. I have received letters and reports from those who experienced God's physical healing, lifting of depression, deliverance from suicide and fear upon hearing these songs. Parents have gratefully expressed how their children's temperaments dramatically changed while dancing to the music and listening to the lyrics. Others testify to experiencing forgiveness, joy and a more personal relationship with God by asking Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) into their hearts and lives in response to the message of these songs. The last song, He Arose!, highlights Yeshua's triumphant resurrection from the dead!

The Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations eulogizes her recent passing:

Sandra Sheskin Brotman entered into her eternal rest peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Monday, May 29, 2023. Sandra, a matriarch in the Messianic Jewish movement, was full of life, passionate about her faith, and rarely missed an opportunity to share the love of Yeshua with others.

Sandra was one of the first female Messianic Jewish recording artists and loved singing about Zion and her Messiah. She was active for many years Sandra in Ahavat Yeshua, a Messianic Jewish congregation in Washington, D.C. Throughout her life she tirelessly served the Lord, using her gifts as a singer, songwriter, Bible teacher, pro-life advocate, and writer. She wrote articles on Messianic Jewish topics and was interviewed numerous times on local and national TV and radio. She was truly a pioneer of the Messianic Jewish Movement.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held July 1 at Ahavat Yeshua, and also made available online. For details visit Sandra Brotman Memorial.

While Sandra has passed away, you can donate to the charities she supported throughout her life

Enjoy, and shabbat shalom to you all.
